I've been working for the University since 2004. I serve as the coordinator for University special events and projects from the concept creation to post-event assessment. My job encompasses theme and timeline development, budget planning and analysis, logistics preparation, vendor management and event execution and reconciliation. I strive for event planning perfection. I believe that each event should be a positive reflection of the University, so in the preparation I incorporate something unique that will make the event enjoyable and memorable. I'm also a resource on matters of University etiquette and protocol and am a donor recognition steward for the department, responsible for the production and maintenance of the recognition sites on campus as well as the purchasing of awards and promotional merchandise. I'm honored to work at the University and treasures the relationships I've developed with faculty, staff and students.
I was born and grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas. I'm an honors graduate of Mary Carroll High School. Following graduation, I attended Del Mar College in Corpus Christi and studied Journalism. In 1992, I received an Associate of Arts in Journalism from Del Mar College and was inducted into the Del Mar College Hall of Fame. I moved to Fort Worth, Texas in 1993 to attend Texas Christian University. At TCU, I became a member of Alphi Phi Omega. In 1995, I graduated from TCU with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism: Advertising and Public Relations with a minor in Art. Since then, I've been employed with Thistle Hill Historical Mansion and Museum, Fort Worth, Texas; City of Portland, Portland, Texas; Special Olympics Texas, South Texas - Area 2. Currently, I'm attending Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi to obtain a Master of Science.
I enjoy art, dance and tennis. I have a passion for art and am always doodling. My artwork was exhibited in the "Los Nuevos Artistas" Invitational Art Exhibit and Auction at the Antonio E. Garcia Arts and Education Center, Corpus Christi, Texas in 2002, 2003 and 2006. Also, I love to dance! I was a member of the local professional dance troupe, the Pacific Islanders and Mystic Dancers, for five years. Currently, I keep dancing by attending a cardio salsa dance class for fun and fitness. Also an avid tennis player, I've been playing tennis since I was in junior high. I've had the privilege of working with many tennis greats. One legendary tennis player was Bernard "Tut" Bartzen. While at TCU, I worked for Bartzen and taught at his annual summer tennis camp. I'm currently a member of the United States Tennis Association and play locally in a USTA women's league.
