Administrative Assistant - Marketing & Communications

I am the admin for the Marketing and Communications Department, a Division of Institutional Advancement.
Before moving back to my hometown here in Corpus Christi, in Virginia I had interesting careers; I worked 8 years for AMF Bowling Headquarters, 8 years for Walgreens as CPhT Sr. Pharmacy Technician and my final 9 months as an office manager for a cardiologist. Also before all of these jobs, I was previously an administrative assistant; all of these jobs helped to prepare me for my present career. I assist my department in helping to prepare materials for meetings, ordering, verifying expenses, handling new hires with paperwork, scheduling appointments and assisting with the accounting needs of our department.
Another part of my position is helping to maintain the Public Information Requests. I work closely with other departments within the University to help gather information to pass along to the requestor and alongside General Counsel for guidance.
