The Office of Communications and Public Affairs is the keeper of the University’s image to the internal and external community. The Director of Public Affairs guides the telling of the University’s story through mediums generated by the University, and by aiding journalists in mass media.
The office manages communications internally; including the University’s online newsroom, The Islander magazine, electronic newsletters, video/audio production including commercials, videos for the web/outreach presentations, and social media. The department also administers the University’s Code Blue Emergency Notification System.
The department’s relationships with local, state and national media outlets help journalists in creating awareness of the University’s diverse educational, research, and outreach endeavors. (Methods include: electronic press kits, new and event releases, and coordination of media interviews with members of the campus community)
